What Are The Distinctions Between The Basic Nutrisystem Core Plan And The Frozen Select Plan?

People often contact and ask me to explain some of the differences between the different Nutrisystem plans. Lately, I am most often asked to explain some of the main differences between the select and the core plans. People often can't help but notice that the select plan costs a little more and they want to know if it is worth it. I heard from someone who said; "other than the increased costs, is there really such a big difference between the core plan and the select one? Is the extra money even worth it?"

While I can't decide if any upgrade is worth the extra money (as only you can determine that,) I can highlight some of the differences so that you can make that determination for yourself. The biggest benefit of the select line is that you get access to the frozen meals. Some of these are part of the new "Chef's Table" line and others are just really nice breakfast and desserts (like french toast and ice cream sandwiches) that you are not going to have access to on the core plan. With that said, there are some very popular and very nice foods on the core plan, so I don't want for you to feel like you have to pay extra to get any decent food. That is definitely not the case. The core plan has a lot of nice options that many people are quite happy with.

Another benefit with the select line is that the company often includes new food items with this plan. For example, when the very popular protein shakes were first introduced, they were automatically included in the select line. You couldn't get them on any other plan at first. Now, you are able to order them a la carte, but in the beginning they were offered to select customers.

I find that people sometimes assume that the core plan is the most basic or inexpensive plan. That's not true. The basic plan is the least expensive plan with the least benefits. For example, the basic plan doesn't give you the counseling and the priority processing, but some people really don't want or need this and they would much rather save some money and forego the counseling which they don't feel that they would use. Or, they don't need to get their package on an expedited basis. You do get the counseling and the expedited shipping with both the core and select plans, so if this is important to you, then you might want to avoid the basic plan. And if the frozen meals are important to you, then you will want to go with the select as the core plan does not offer this.

I'd like to make one more point. It's not always true the select plan is always more expensive than the other plans. Sometimes, the company discounts it so aggressively that it actually doesn't cost that much more than the other plans. This isn't always the case, but sometimes, if you time it correctly, you don't have to pay a premium for it.
