How To Say 'No' to Too Much Food - Top 7 Tips

By

During the festive periods of the year, many people find it very difficult to avoid over indulging in readily available food from friends and close relatives who often offer them lots of "harmless treats" and lots of sweet goodies as presents.

However, if you are serious about maintaining your fit and slim figure, you have to learn to say no to these food extras without feeling guilty or remorse. So in this article, we shall be looking at the following tips that will help you to put your feet down when it comes to refusing extra and unneeded food:

Tip1- Learn to take only a fair share of the food that you want

Take only one portion of whatever food that you want to eat whenever you are at a party and do not eat beyond just one plate of that food; do not dash from one food to the other, but concentrate on only one food that you like and enjoy eating this food.

Tip 2- Plan what you want to eat in advance

If you have a predetermined plan of how much of food that you want to eat in a day, you will be able to control your eating better; when you are presented with tempting foods all you have to do is to consult your already written out daily eating plan to find out if the food is in line with your plan, and if it is not included in your plan you simply reject it.

Tip 3- Avoid binge eating totally

If you know that once you take the first bite of an unplanned indulgence you would most likely set up a vicious cycle of guilt which will push you into further over indulgence, it is better that you avoid such indulgence totally.

Tip 4- Realise that you have the right to stop anytime you want to

Learn to say no without needing to explain yourself; it is your right to accept or reject whatever anybody presents to you so, just smile and say no. If the person repeats the offer just smile once again and repeat the same word with a smile.

Tip 5- Look around you

Look around you to see the effects of excessive eating on people that have refused to discipline their appetite; even though it seems as if they are enjoying eating lots of foods, most of them will eventually become overweight and develop weight related diseases after some time.

Tip 6- Master your feelings

Most people that over indulge in eating do so to suppress their inevitable bad feelings that they experience from time to time. So, if you are going to discipline your eating you have to learn to cope and manage the inevitable bad emotional feelings that you would experience from time to time.

Tip 7- Be the master of your own fate

Decide to follow your own path which you have decided that is best for you; it does not matter if everyone around you decide to indulge in over eating as they know why they have chosen such path and it is really not your business to figure out why. You have decided to live your life the way that you have deemed it best for you and you owe nobody any apologies for your decision.
