Don't Have A Valentine's Day Gift Yet, Maybe Something Active For You Both Can Inspire Fitness

By

Sure it may be a tad bit late to shop for a Valentine's Day gift, but if you are a last minute shopper and looking for a fun and inspiring gift for your loved one, aside from the traditional bear/roses/candy, maybe a new fitness activity for the two of you will be well received.

This can be the ideal opportunity especially if the two of you have been tossing the idea around about losing weight and getting into shape. It's been shown when couples make the commitment to exercise and workout together, there is an added bit of motivation and incentive to continue working towards the overall goal. When you have another person to motivate you on days when you may be lacking inspiration, and vice versa, it makes sense why having a partner can help keep you on track.

Therefore some ideas to consider for possible Valentine's Day gifts can include a number of activities and sports that you may or may not have thought of doing together before.

For instance maybe the two of you have thought of learning to play tennis. Well you can get purchase racquets along with two class memberships to Spring lessons that should be starting soon. Or maybe your significant other has been wanting to take a Zumba fitness class. If you take a quick look in Craigslist or your neighborhood newspaper, you may find a nightly Zumba class right in your area.

If you live near the beach you can take surfing lessons together. I found people online offering surfing lessons for an hour and a half for fifty dollars. That would be a good introductory opportunity to check and see if this sport is something that the two of you would enjoy which could possibly become a passion. On a little more extreme side, I also found kite surfing lessons that I actually had the opportunity to do a month ago in Colombia, and even though these lessons are a bit more pricey at $175 for a three hour class, it is definitely a possibility if you are intrigued with this activity.

Or if you wanted something to do on your own without needing lessons, you can get two sets of rollerblades and start rollerblading together. Personally I would recommend to get some type of instruction maybe from YouTube videos so you learn proper form and techniques so that falls and the aches and pains will be kept to a minimum. This will also help ensure you have the correct equipment and gear too.

You could also get bikes (mountain or street) and get in the habit of riding with your loved one around your neighborhood or on designated paths or trails which you could find by doing a simple internet search.

This Valentine's Day, if you haven't bought a bear, roses, or chocolate yet, thinking of a physical activity that you can partake in with your loved one will not only put a smile on their face, but give you both an activity that you can enjoy together as you work towards your weight loss commitment. This could be the perfect opportunity to not only spend time doing a physical activity with your loved one, but getting exercise at the same time leading you one step closer to your goal of losing weight and getting into shape.
